Surrounded by luxurious hills and forests of pine and eucalyptus Torba is located at the head of a large bay opening onto the Aegean Sea on the north facing side of the Bodrum Peninsula. It is located 6km northeast of the town of Bodrum.

You can fly into Milas–Bodrum International Airport direct from most countries of northern Europe. The airport is situated 32km east of Torba. A spacious new international terminal was completed in 2000. The original terminal now only serves Turkish domestic flights.

Torba is an old world fishing village that has been able to maintain the balance between fishing and tourism. A cloak of secrecy is provided by the bay shore-line.

The hills on either side reach out north into the clear blue Aegean Sea hiding from the world the magic that it holds in its old world charm. This is a family paradise with swimming and many other water sports. It is also a romantic getaway in a relaxed, private, no-pressure environment.

Outside of the summer months, July to October, Torba is a sleepy village spreading its wings to full flight early in July turning into an attractive holiday destination.

Torba has new and reasonably priced hotels, guest houses and resorts that have been tastefully built to meet the growing demand for all-inclusive holidays.

Mediterranean food is available in the many restaurants and bars. Quick food or fine dining at a price you can afford. On the beach or within a modern building all tastes and dietary requirements are met.

Sun worship and beach walking are the number one and two sport in village of Torba. Interwoven as these activities combine with bursts of the typical water activities of wave runners, parasailing and banana boat rides.

All through the day on the beach, drinks, food and holiday memorabilia are available. Shade on the beach is provided by umbrellas that are available for hire.

Torba is an excellent choice if you enjoy trail walking. There are many trails through the forests along the bays and over the hills. Walking directions should be sought for the interesting old ruins of a byzantine monastery located in the hills near a beach.

For those who enjoy water parks there is “The Aqua Park” only 15km away.

Trail horse riding is available in Turgutreis, 26 km away, with rides suitable for all age groups. It is advisable to book in advance if you have specific riding needs.

Due to Torba’s north facing location, the sunlight comes over the southern hills to your back as you view the land and seascape. This mellow lighting and the clear air has made this a destination of choice for many artists and writers who find that the area ambiance stimulating for their artistic talent.

This cultured, old-style Turkish village is perfect for those wanting to relax after a year of work or after a night of partying in the nightclubs in Bodrum or just a simple family holiday getaway.

Our Top Tips

• Spend the day sunbathing and chilling on one of the wooden jetties overlooking the bay along Ataturk Caddesi.

• Keep walking north along the western side of the bay, and you’ll pass the fishing boat harbor, where the fishing excursion day boat is moored.

• Just past the Fishing Boat Harbour, is the Day Boat Jetty, where a selection of boats offer different tours to visit islands and coves

• Climb the hill to visit the 2500 year old Lelegian Tomb on a hill overlooking the village.

• Venture to the eastern end of the bay for a sneak peak at the ruins of an old church.
